(During the opening measures, a watercolor painting shows Miaka and Tamahome surrounded by the other Seishi. The scene slowly zooms in on the two lovers.)
Lady
(Miaka looks over her shoulder at the screen.)
I'm your knight
in shining armor
(Tamahome takes down a slaver before he grabs Miaka.)
And I
love you
(Miaka looks startled as Tamahome hugs her.)
You have made me what I
am and
(He holds her by her shoulders and says something to her. She hesitates at first,
then smiles.)
I am yours
(Tamahome leans down and kisses her on her forehead.)
And my love
(Miaka sits at her window, staring out at the stars.)
There
are so many ways I want
(Tamahome sits in a chair beside Miaka's bed, watching her
sleep.)
To say I love you
(He reaches out and covers her hand with his.)
Let me hold you in my arms
(Tamahome carries an unconscious Miaka into her room.)
Forevermore
(He lays her on her bed. An expression of sadness crosses his face.)
You have gone and made me such a fool
(Hotohori stands pointing his sword at
Tamahome's throat, challenging his love for Miaka. Tamahome doesn't move, but his eyes are angry
as he replies.)
And I'm so lost in your love
(The emperor glares at him, then
walks away. Tamahome sags with relief.)
And oh, we belong together
(Miaka
slips out of her bedroom window to start her search for Yui. A tear slides down her cheed as she
whispers Tamahome's name.)
Won't you believe in my song
(Tamahome stumbles
outside and falls to his knees in the grass. After staring at the ground for a moment, he throws
his head back and screams Miaka's name at the moon.)
Lady
(Miaka stands in front of a roaring bonfire, wearing her ceremonial
Suzaku no Miko robes. The seven Seishi are gathered behind her.)
For so many years I thought
(Tamahome looks at her, then closes his eyes.)
I'd never find you
(A brief flashback to when he first met Miaka and Yui, after rescuing them from the slavers.
You have come into my life and
(He opens his eyes and sees Miaka looking over her
shoulder at him. She smiles.)
Made me whole
(Miaka turns back to the fire and
tosses a handful of dust on it, making the flames jump.)
Forever
(Miaka stands on a hilltop, the wind rustling her school uniform.)
Let me wake to see you
(The two lovers sleep on the ground beside each other.
Tamahome opens his eyes and gazes at Miaka's sleeping face.)
Each and every morning
(She smiles slightly in her sleep.)
Let me hear you whisper softly
(Tamahome and Miaka stand holding hands. A quick time-lapse shows them growing old together.)
In my ear
(The elderly couple hug.)
In my eyes I see no one else but you
(Nuriko throws his arms around Tamahome's
neck, trying to get his attention. Tamahome pries him off and turns around just as Miaka walks
into the room.)
There's no one else who loves like I love
(Miaka sits with Hotohori
on a cliff, trying to cheer him up. Tamahome sees the two of them together and walks away. Miaka
catches sight of him and looks guilty. Gomen ne, Tamahome...)
And yes, oh yes, I'll
always want you near me
(Tamahome pushes through the barrier around the temple of
Seiryuu to get to Miaka and Chichiri.)
I've waited for you for so long
(Chichiri
holds off Nakago as Tamahome and Miaka escape through his kasa.)
Lady
(Miaka kneels on the floor, playing on Mitsukake's cat.)
Your
love's the only love I need
(Tamahome watches her from the doorway.)
And beside
me
(The two stand facing the screen, Tamahome beside and slightly behind his priestess.)
Is where I want you to be
(Miaka runs into Tamahome's arms, tears streaming
from her face.)
Cause my love
(Miaka wakes up to see Tamahome's sleeping face
beside her.)
There's something I want you to know
(Tamahome and Miaka stand watching the sunset.
He slips his arm around her waist.)
You're the love of my life
(He slowly turns
around to face her.)
You're my lady
(Tamahome wraps his arms around Miaka and
kisses her.)
(A different painting of the Suzaku no Miko and her seven Seishi is shown. Suzaku flies over their heads and the scene fades to black as the song ends.)
